Shri Prabhu Dayal Agarwal Ji, the Founder of Transport Corporation of India (TCI), is remembered not only as a pioneer who transformed the logistics landscape but also as a humanitarian deeply committed to causes of health, education and social welfare.
A Nationwide Movement to Save Lives
This September, TCI carried forward his legacy by organizing a nationwide blood donation drive that spanned 52+ locations across India. The six-day campaign, held from 15–20 September 2025, brought together employees, associates and communities with one shared mission, to save lives through the gift of blood. From Kolkata to Gurugram, Rajkot to Varanasi and Mumbai to Patna, hundreds of volunteers came forward. Together, they contributed over 1,800+ units of blood, marking a powerful act of collective humanity.
The vision behind the drive
Shri PD Agarwal Ji believed that service to humanity was the highest duty. Decades before private blood banks were common in India, he foresaw their vital role in healthcare and took bold steps to establish them. By spearheading the creation of some of India’s first private blood banks, an initiative far ahead of its time, he laid a foundation that has since saved countless lives. Today, TCI’s annual blood donation drive is a living tribute to his vision of building a better, healthier society.
